A small group of parents and caregivers meet for 2 hours a week for 12 weeks. It is a program that provides parents with the skills and knowledge to build strong, healthy relationships with their children. The core of the program is a relationship-based approach to parenting.
It is not a “how to” parenting program but rather explores the “why” of parenting. The Parenting Journey connects parents’ past, how they were parented, as well as current influences on how they parent today. It is a nurturing program where self-care is introduced and encouraged.
It gives parents a space to practice and enhance their skills in communication, active listening, and problem-solving. It takes a strength-based approach to parenting while building a positive support network. Parents will feel more confident in their parenting abilities, build stronger relationships with their children, and promote positive connections within their lives.
Individuals who engage in mental health services at CCYC will receive trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment tailored to their specific needs, as identified through the bio-psychosocial assessment.
